Title:
DEALKYLATION OF ESTER, ETHER OR ACETAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS55124727
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To carry out the dealkylation of esters, ethers or acetals, with substantially simplified process, at remakable low cost, by using chlorotrimethylsilane, in the presence of an iodide and pref. an acetonitrile as a solvent.

CONSTITUTION: Esters, ethers, or acetals are dealkylated with chlorotrimethylsilane in the presence of an iodide, pref. in acetonitrile, in the absence of iodotrimethylsilane. The dealkylation proceeds without affecting the functional groups of the raw materials. The use of the acetonitrile solvent enables the smooth reaction, and, since acetonitrile is inert to chlorotrimethylsilane, etc., and does not dissolve the by- produced chloride, the by-products can be easily removed by filtration. Iodotrimethylsilane is not produced by the reaction of chlorotrimethylsilane with the iodide.
