PURPOSE: To prevent aggregation of coal particles and increase the degree of deashing, by irradiating coal particles with ultrasonic wave in the deashing of coal by dispersing coal particles in a liquid.
CONSTITUTION: Coal or its mixture with water 1 is led into a crusher 2 for crushing to a predetermined particle size and a coal/water slurry 4 is prepared by adding water 3 to it when necessary. The slurry 4 is led into an ultrasonic wave irradiator 5 for separation of coal particles into coal and ash and is sent into a Demper separating tank 7, where air 8 is supplied from the bottom and, when necessary, additives such as frother to produce fine air bubbles and collector to render coal components hydrohobic are added. Particles 10 with a high coal content come up to the surface together with air bubbles in the separating tank and are recovered at the top of the tank, while ash-rich particles 11 are recovered at the bottom of the tank.
