Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new decalin ketone capable of imparting, improving, increasing or reforming odorous properties of perfuming compositions and perfumed articles.
CONSTITUTION: The objective decalin ketones (but, except perhydro-4a,8,8- trimethyl-1-trans-naphthalene) are represented by formula I (R1-R3 are each H or methyl, a single or double bond in one of the position indicated by dotted lines or two double bonds in position 2 and 5 or 3 and 5 such as indicated by the dotted line are included), e.g. 4a,5,6,7,8,8a-hexahydro-4a,8,8-trimethyl-1(4H)- trans-naphthalene. A compound of formula II, which is one of the compounds of formula I, is prepared by treating a compound of formula III with heat, and then treating with an acid.
