Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain braking force in accordance with an engine speed uninfluenced by a change of torque by connecting the impeller of an air compressor which decelerates the speed of the crankshaft to a subshaft of a gear-driven transmission connected through a clutch to the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine.

CONSTITUTION: When an internal combustion engine 1 is rotated in its crankshaft 2, an impeller 7 is rotated via a clutch 3 and a subshaft 5. When the engine is in normal operation, a valve means 18 is positioned in a closing side by an air cylinder 20, throttling a delivery port 16 to its minimum area, and also force, for driving an air compressor 6, that is, deceleration brake power is generated to a minimum. However, when a deceleration brake is necessary, turning on a switching means 24 opening a solenoid valve 22, and when compressed air is supplied to the air cylinder 20, the impeller 7 performs work of compressor by suitably opening the delivery port 16 of the valve means 18. This work of energy consumption serves for the brake power decelerating a speed of the crankshaft 2. Here an angular speed is relaxed in its change in the crankshaft 2 and transmitted to an accelerating gear 11.
