Upward opening action and closing action after upward opening of a tail gate 15 of a cargo deck 7 mounted on a chassis of a dump truck 1 is assisted by an opening/closing gate assist device 49. The opening/closing gate assist device 49 is pushed by a telescopic rod 51 energized by a coil spring 69 so as to extend at all times, and energized upwardly rotatably about a second pivot 75. A lower end of the tail gate 15 is supported in the upward opening action of the tail gate 15 by the assist device, which assists the upward opening action of the tail gate 15. On the other hand, the lower end of the tail gate 15 is pushed by the assist device in closing action after upward opening, which assists the closing action of the tail gate 15.
