Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain improvement in the reliability of a decoder (error correction system) concerning a decoding verifier for product code and a method for verifying decoding for product code, especially, the decoding verification of a magnetic tape device.
SOLUTION: Concerning the decoding verifier for product code provided with an update memory 11 having one write port A and two read ports B and C and with an arithmetic part, the syndrome provided from a decoding part for performing fixed error correcting processing to product code data is preserved through the port A into the update memory 11, data stored in the address designated from the decoding part is read through the port B, and the result of fixed arithmetic through the arithmetic part to data is rewritten through the port A to the address corresponding to an error position while using the data of error value and error position provided from the decoding part.
