Abstract:

To provide a decomposition electrode for a nitrogen component in organic wastewater capable of decomposing nitrogen-containing organic matter such as an amino acid, an amine or the like by a low electrolytic current to convert the same to ammonia or amonia nitrogen for a short time, capable of rapidly removing the nitrogen component from wastewater and excellent in utility, an organic wastewater treatment method capable of treating nitrogen- containing organic sewage with high treatment efficiency, dispensing with the secondary treatment of treated water and not generating scum or the like, and a compact organic wastewater treatment apparatus enhanced in energy saving properties and a maintainability.

The decomposition electrode for the nitrogen component in organic wastewater is used in the nitrogen component treatment apparatus for applying voltage across electrodes immersed in organic wastewater to convert the nitrogen component in organic wastewater to ammonia nitrogen. The surface of the substrate of the decomposition electrode is covered with an electrode cover material with a thickness δ of 0.05 μm<δ<2.5 μm.
