Title:
DECOMPOSITION OF HALOGENATED ORGANIC COMPOUNDS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS52145372
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
Halogenated org. cpds. are decomposed by (a) preheating them to >300 degrees C and then (b) contacting the preheated cpds. with a noble metal catalyst (pref. Ru and/or Pt) in presence of an oxidising agent at >=350 degrees C. Used for decomposing residual vinyl chloride monomer from ambient atmos. in polymerisation plants. The preheating stage results in increased useful life of the catalyst and more efficient decompsn. of the halogenated cpds.
