Title:
LOCKUP CONTROLLER FOR TORQUE CONVERTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3167956
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the minimum lockup coupling of a torque converter irrespectively of dispersion in the coefficient of friction over the facing of its lockup clutch, by calculating the minimum lockup capacity on the basis of the slip- caused capacity where target slight slips are just caused between the input and output elements of the converter during coasting.
SOLUTION: A lockup controller comprises a coasting state detection means 50 for detecting the coasting state of a vehicle, a slip detection means 51 for detecting target slight slips, a capacity detection means 52 for detecting the lockup capacity of a torque converter, a storage means 53 for detecting the slip-caused capacity where slips are just caused with those means and updating and storing the detected slip-caused capacity upon occasions, and a coasting lockup control means 54 for decreasing the lockup capacity to the coupling capacity obtained by the addition of a predetermined capacity to the preceding stored slip-caused capacity with the means 50 and 53 and controlling the minimum lockup coupling capacity on the basis of the new slip-caused capacity calculated from the coupling capacity.
