To obtain a decorative material having a clear contrast between a part forming a pattern and a part forming a ground.SOLUTION: A decorative material of the invention is produced by a step of laminating a metal material on a base material 2 to form a metal layer 3, a step of preparing a plate material in which a surface material consisting of a combustible material is laminated on the metal layer 3 to form a surface layer 4, and a step of exposing a part of the metal layer 3 to the surface of the decorative material 1 by irradiating the surface layer 4 of the plate material with a laser beam and burning only a part of the surface layer 4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
