Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decorative surface for an architectural panel which is rich in durability and texture, and protected from weathering or the other environmental influences causing destructive action.
SOLUTION: The decorative architectural panel comprises a substrate 21, a base layer 11 of a fluoropolymer film adhering to the substrate, and at least one discontinuous top layer 12 of preformed fluoropolymer film that forms a decorative, textured surface. The fluoropolymer surfacing film protects the substrate while providing decorative features. Steel panels in accordance with the invention, resembling traditional asphalt construction materials, are especially useful for residential roofing.
