To obtain deforming and/or deaerating agents showing high activity even at about room temp. by using oil-in-water type emulsions based on an oil phase such as an ester of a higher alcohol or a sugar alcohol and a fatty acid.
The oil phase comprises an alcohol having more than 12 carbon atoms which is distillation residues obtained in the course of the production of higher alcohols, an ester of a sugar alcohol having at least 4 OH groups or the like and a fatty acid having more than 20 carbon atoms in a molar ratio more than 1, and fatty acid esters, polyethylene waxes or the like. As the case may be, hydrocarbons having ≥200°C b.p. and fatty acids or the like are added. And the oil phase makes up 5-75 wt.% of the emulsion, and the deforming and/or deaerating agents for aq. media prone to forming are made based on the oil-in-water type emulsions.
