To provide a degassing mechanism capable of releasing the increase of internal pressure in an oil tank in lowering a wick for putting out fire, in a wick up-and-down type oil burning appliance.
The wick 3 is mounted on an outer side of a wick inner cylinder 2a stood from a bottom plate of the oil tank 1, and an opening 4 formed on an upper face of the oil tank 1 is provided with a degassing mechanism A composed of a valve mechanism body 5 opened when an internal pressure in the oil tank 1 is increased, and a cylindrical portion 6 extending to an inner side of the oil tank 1. The valve mechanism body 5 is composed of a valve 7 loaded on a valve seat of a valve hole 5a and independently moved up and down, a cylindrical guard 8 surrounding the valve 7, and a valve cover 9 mounted on the cylindrical guard 8. A gas in the oil tank 1 flows to the valve hole 5a when the internal pressure in the oil tank 1 is increased in lowering the wick 3, and released from a degassing slit 8a formed on the cylindrical guard 8 by pushing up the valve 7. As the valve 7 independently moved up and down, is quickly moved up when the internal pressure of the oil tank 1 is increased, and the valve hole 5a is largely opened, the gas in the oil tank 1 can be quickly released to the outside even by a small degassing mechanism A, and rising flame in putting out fire can be prevented.
