To prevent occurrence of an accident by computing a degree of danger by means of division based on a distance between own vehicle and the previous vehicle, determining whether the computed result exceeds a reference value or not, and making a driver perceive the degree of danger on the basis of the determined result.
In a computing circuit part 32 serving as an estimating means estimating a distance from the own vehicle to the previous vehicle, a response time of a driver and an absolute speed of the own vehicle is integrated, and the integrated result is divided on the basis of a distance between the own vehicle and the previous vehicle, so that a degree of danger can be computed. If the degree of danger exceeds the predetermined value, this fact is displayed on a screen of a monitor 6 so as to make a driver perceive increase of colliding danger. In this way, the driver can take action to avoid danger of collision in advance, so that occurrence of an accident can be prevented previously.
