Title:
DEHYDROGENATION OF DIISOPROPYLBENZENE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001026558
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a catalytic dehydrogenation process for diisopropylbenzene that uses an economical and industrial solid catalyst in harmony with the natural environment and containing no chromium as a catalyst component, in the production of corresponding isopropenylcumene and diisopropenylbenzene from the diisopropylbenzene in the presence of steam.

In the presence of steam, diisopropylbenzene is dehydrogenated in gas phase at an elevated temperature to produce isopropenylcumene and diisopropenylbenzene. In this case, a solid catalyst mainly containing an iron compound and potassium compound is used and the steam is feed at a weight ratio of 3-60 to the diisopropylbenzene to effect the catalytic reaction.
