Abstract:

To provide a denitrification device, by which mercury in a tail gas can be oxidized with the use of a catalyst for denitrification even when a substance other than chlorine or a chlorine compound is used.

A denitrification device is provided with a means for injection of a denitrification agent, by which a denitrification agent is injected into a smoke passage 7 through which a tail gas containing at least a nitrogen oxide and mercury passes, a means for injecting an agent, by which an agent containing at least either bromine or iodine into the smoke passage 7, and a catalyst layer 11 for accelerating a reaction for reducing a nitrogen oxide with the denitrification agent after introduction of a tail gas containing a denitrification agent and the agent and a reaction for oxidizing mercury with the agent, so as to generate at least either mercury bromide or mercury iodide.
