Title:
DENTAL AMALGAM ALLOY POWDER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS563644
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide Ag saving dental amalgam alloy powder consisting of Ag, Cu and Sn each of a predetermined percentage, being hardened in an appropriate time with little dimensional change, having high compressive strength, and forming no γ2 phase.

CONSTITUTION: 43.5W45.8wt% Ag, 24.0W26.0wt% Cu and 28.2W32.0wt% Sn are blended, melted, and alloyed, and this alloy is converted into dental amalgam alloy powder by a usual melt spraying method or a usual cutting crushing method. In case of the melt spraying method, the alloy is powdered by spraying at about 900°C, and the powder is screened to select grains of an appropriate grain size. The grains may be heat treated at 100W300°C for several hr. In case of the cutting crushing method, an ingot of the alloy is cut with a lathe or the like optionally after heat treatment at several hundreds °C, and the cutting chips are crushed with a pot mill and screened. The resulting powder may be heat treated at 100W300°C for several hr.
