PURPOSE: To obtain a dentifrice composition, effective in preventing various periodontoses, etc., and excellent in antibacterial plaque and antidental calculus actions.

CONSTITUTION: The objective dentifrice composition is obtained by blending (A) 2,4,4'-trichloro-2'-hydroxy-diphenyl ether (triclosan) with (B) zeolite, preferably a synthetic zeolite expressed by the formula [M is alkali or alkaline earth metal having the valence (n); (x) is 0.7-1.5; (y) is 0.8-10; (z) is a number of ≥0] with hardly any impurity and contaminant, especially A type zeolite in which M is Na or K. The amounts of the ingredients based on the whole composition are preferably 0.01-5wt.% ingredient (A) and 0.1-50wt.% ingredient (B). This dentifrice composition has the effects. Furthermore, in this case, since the ingredient (A) exhibits extremely strong antimicrobial activity against bacteria in the bacterial plaque without lowering the effects even when used with an anionic compound together, the formation of the bacterial plaque can sufficiently be suppressed. In addition, the ingredient (B) captures Ca ions in the saliva to satisfactorily and sustainedly suppress the formation of the dental calculus. Both the ingredients synergistically act to exhibit the effects.
