To provide a deodorant composition having excellent deodorization effect on the smell of roast fish.
The deodorization composition having an excellent deodorization effect on the smell of roast fish contains a specific highly volatile aromatic agent such as cis-3-hexenol or the like, a specific low volatile aromatic agent such as -undecalactone or the like, and a specific moderate polar solvent such as benzyl acetate. In addition, the deodorization composition preferably contains a specific polyhydroxy amine compound. In a method for determining deodorization effect on the smell of roast fish and in a method for screening a deodorization agent for the smell of roast fish, 4,5-epoxy-2-alkenals having a carbon number of 7-10 is used as an indicator material of the smell of roast fish.
