PURPOSE: To dispense with a special means for treating a waste material and to eliminate the generation of secondary environmental pollution by preparing a deodorant using porous carbide based on activated silicic acid obtained by subjecting a bamboo being a raw material to carbonizing treatment.

CONSTITUTION: A bamboo being a raw material is cut into a rod shape having 1m length, for instance, and the cut bamboo is longitudinally divided to be received in a carbonizing kiln and subjected to carbonizing treatment. The obtained carbide is porous matter based on activated silicic acid and the so- called charcoal of a kind prepared from a bamboo being the raw material and has high hygroscopicity and gas adsorbability developed by a surface oxidizing phenomenon. The carbide of a bamboo thus prepared is ground corresponding to a use purpose to form a particle having an appropriate particle size or a powder and this particle or powder is sealed in a bag body made of paper or a nonwoven fabric to obtain a product.
