To provide a deodorizing method and device capable of removing the intensive malodors generated during the incontinence of a bed ridden person to be nursed.
The odor removing device 1 is installed near the person 18 to be nursed and is covered together with the person 16 to be nursed by bedding 5 and 5' to remove the odors during the incontinence in the bedding 5 and 5'. Photocatalyst filters 7 and 7' activated by a UV lamp 8 and the ozone generated by the irradiation with the UV lamp 8 are used in combination as the odor removing means of the odor removing device 1, by which the removal of the storing malodors, such as feces odors and urine odors, is made possible. The ozone used for the odor removal is cracked by an ozone cracking filter 9 and is made non-polluting, by which the installation and use of the device 1 near the person 16 to be nursed is made possible. Further, the carriers of the photocatalysts formed by sticking ceramics 7b for the surface layers to the front surfaces of porous bodies 7a having a three-dimensional network structure to increase the contact areas with air are used.
