Abstract:

To provide a depot preparation for eyes capable of being administered, for example, surrounding eyes, or sub-tenonly, or subconjunctivally.

The depot preparation for eyes such as a micro- or a nano-particle preparation includes an active agent embedded in a pharmacologically allowed biocompatible polymer or in a lipid sealing agent in an enclosed polymer matrix, wherein the microparticle of the active agent is an amorphous or crystalline form having 1-200 micron of a particle size. The polymer matrix of the polymeric microparticles shall be synthetic or natural polymer, wherein the polymer shall be biodegradable or non-biodegradable, or a combination of biodegradable and non-biodegradable polymers, preferably biodegradable.
