Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:The title compound of formula I (R1,R2=H, alkyl; R3=H, acyl, aroyl).

EXAMPLE: 5-Acetoxy-3-undecen-2-one.

USE: Synthetic intermediate of 1,4-diketone which is a dihydrojasmone used for perfumes or its precursor. Dihydrojasmones can be synthesized with simple operations from the intermediate.

PROCESS: A compound of formula I is obtained by treatment of α-sulphenyl-α,β- enone of formula II (R4=alkyl, aryl), which is obtained by the oxidation of a sulphenylenone compound, with a base (e.g. triethylamine, diethylamine etc.) in a protonic solvent (water, methanol etc.) or an organic carboxylic acid anhydride. R3 is H when the protonic solvent is used, and R3 is acyl or aroyl when the organic carboxylic acid anhydride is used.
