PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound having antiviral action and useful especially as an agent for the treatment of human cytomegalovirus infection diseases.
CONSTITUTION: This derivative is 5'-0-TBDMS-5-fluoro-2',3'-dideoxyuridine of formula I, 3-(2-hydroxy-6-oxo-cyclohexenyl)chromone of formula II or 6-(2- hydroxybenzoyl)-thiazo [2,3-b] pyrimidin-4-one of formula III. The compound of formula II can be produced e.g. by dissolving 3-cyclohexanedione and potassium carbonate in CH3CN, stirring at room temperature for 1hr, cooling to 0°C adding a CH3CN solution of 2,3-epoxychromone dropwise to the cooled solution, stirring the mixture for 6hr, adding ice water to the reaction liquid, extracting with CH2Cl2, drying the extract, distilling out the solvent under reduced pressure and finally subjecting the residue to silica gel chromatography.
