Abstract:
In the case of a cast, linerless single-cylinder or multi-cylinder block of aluminium alloy for internal-combustion engines, there are embedded in the aluminium matrix silicon grains which protrude beyond the cylinder slide way. In order to reduce significantly the machining of the overall surface of the single-cylinder or multi-cylinder block, just the cylinder slide way comprises a fibrous moulding penetrated with aluminium alloy and having silicon grains inset in it.
