Abstract:
A method is indicated for operating a printing press during a trial proof print prior to commencement of the printing run, by means of which method the production of waste paper is reduced to a minimum. For this purpose, the printing image is transferred during the trial proof print to a control cylinder instead of onto a printing carrier. The printing image is subjected to a visual examination in a first circumferential region of the control cylinder, from which examination conclusions can be drawn for the further adjustment of the parameters which influence the quality and position of the printing image. In a second circumferential region of the control cylinder, the printing image is completely deleted again by means of a deletion device, such that a new printing image is available for the visual examination at the next rotation. The printing carrier is introduced into the printing press only after completion of the trial proof print. The method is principally suitable for all printing processes, but is preferably used in offset printing presses. ……
