PURPOSE: To enable the separating of meltons accurately one at a time from laminated meltons.

CONSTITUTION: A lower peeling apparatus body 28 lifts laminated meltons 12 with a push up plate 68 and stops them at a position where the right end part of the topmost surface intercepts light from a photo detector 70. A padding member 55 is moved with a moving device 61 and needles 59 and 60 for fixing are struck into the right end side of the second melton 10 to fix. Then, first and second mobile plates 100 and 118 of an upper peeling apparatus body 30 are lowered to suck the first melton with sucking members 110 and 111 and the action of an air cylinder 105, and the right end part of the first melton is grasped with first and second pawl members 103 and 104 from above. Subsequently, the first mobile plate 100 rises slightly to peel the right end part of the first melton from the second one. Thereafter, a moving device 37 places a cutter 34 between the first and second meltons separated while moving to the left horizontally to separate the first melton from others, namely from the second or lower completely. After the separation, the upper peeling apparatus body 30 moves with the melton being sucked to carry the melton to the subsequent process.
