To provide a designed twisted yarn having an irregularly twisted structure giving feelings and touches such as gloss feeling, foreign color feeling, moire touch, swollen touch and dry touch to woven or knitted fabrics, when processed into the woven or knitted fabrics, and to provide a method for easily obtaining the designed twisted yarn.
This designed twisted yarn comprises a twisted yarn comprising plural fibers, and has strongly twisted regions and weakly twisted regions each having an evenness tester amplitude R of 10-30%, a twisting pitch of 1.5-5 mm and a length of ≥20 cm at a rate of two to ten weakly twisted regions per 10 cm of the yarn. The designed twisted yarn is obtained by intermittently increasing or decreasing a winding speed or a delivering speed to a winding roller in a twisting process and disposing a tool 14 for stopping the retroaction of the twisting in a balloon guide section 5.
