To provide a designing method of a torque limiter capable of mounting the torque limiter having an intended torque in a limited mounting space.
The torque limiter 10 consists of a first rotating body 11 having a cylinder-like outer circumference part and a second rotating body 20, having an cylinder-like inner circumference part facing against the cylinder-like outer circumference part, arranged to be relatively and coaxially rotatable with the first rotating body 11. A permanent magnet 13 is provided at the cylinder-like outer circumference part of the first rotating body 11 and the cylinder-like inner circumference part of the second rotating body 20 and a hysteresis material 22 is provided in the counterparts. The designing method of the torque limiter 10 adjusts torque to be generated by changing the diameter or axial length of the hysteresis material 22 without changing dimensions of the permanent magnet 13.
