Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a high sensitivity infrared sensor excellent in productivity by producing a high quality pyroelectric ceramic which can be sliced with no cracking nor chipping while maintaining easy polarization conditions using a specified pyroelectric ceramic composition.
CONSTITUTION: The composition is represented by a general formula; Pbx[Ti(CO2 W1-z)1-y]1-xOn (n is an arbitrary number). x, y, z are limited as follows; 0.501≤x≤0.510, 0.80≤y≤0.97, and 0.46≤z≤0.49, and a part of Pb atoms are replaced by Ca atoms by 20 to 30 atomic %. Furthermore, the sensitivity is enhanced by adding 0 to 3 pts.wt. of MnO2 to 100 pts.wt. of the composition. When an infrared sensor 8 is manufactured using the pyroelectric ceramic in a light receiving element 1, a circuit combining the element 1, a resistor 2, and an FET 3 is formed on a printed board 4. It is then soldered to the pins of a hermetic seal 5 to which a metal cap 7 having a silicon window 6 is welded.
