Abstract:

PURPOSE: To permit the effective desorption of uranium with the consumption of lesser amounts of a desorption liquid by a method in which an inert gas is supplied into the lower part of magnetic small wire portion of a magnetic separator to generate bubbles in a desorption liquid and the desorption liquid is brought into contact with an adsorbent through the bubbles.

CONSTITUTION: While exciting the magnetic small wire portion 3 of the highly gradient magnetic separator 1 by the exciting coil 4, a magnetic adsorbent adsorbing uranium from the conduit 5 is flowed with the sea water into the casing 2, and then the sea water is discharged from the conduit 6 to the outside of the casing 2. Then, after introducing the desorption liquid in the desorption liquid tank 10 into the casing 2 by operating the desorption liquid pump 9, an inert gas, e.g., air, etc., from the conduit 12 is introduced into the casing 2, whereupon the air is changed into fine bubbles when passing through the filter 15, goes up the desorption liquid, causes the adsorbent arrested by the magnetic small wire portion 3 to come into contact with the desorption liquid during their passage through the magnetic small wire portion 3, and then lead uranium into the desorption liquid.
