To provide an attaching/detaching mechanism whose lifetime is long, whose withstand load performance is high and which has desirable operational feeling.

The attaching/detaching mechanism for mounting a body to be supported such as a camera on a supporting body such as a tripod has an attaching/detaching part 1 mounted on the body to be supported, and a main body 2 mounted on the supporting body. A part to be fixed 5 having an inclined surface is formed in the attaching/detaching part 1, and a cam 3 for fixing the attaching/detaching part 1 is turnably provided in the main body 2. A relief part 3b separating from the part to be fixed 5 when facing to the part to be fixed 5, a tapered surface 3c having a bus angle corresponding to the inclined surface of the part to be fixed 5, and an abutting surface part 3a having shape surface-contacting with the inclined surface of the part to be fixed 5 over fixed area are formed in order on the outer periphery of the cam 3. At one end of the turning range of the cam 3, the relief part 3b faces to the part to be fixed 5 so that the attaching/detaching part 1 can be separated from the main body 2. At the other end of the turning range of the cam 3, the abutting surface part 3a of the cam 3 faces to the part to be fixed 5 and comes into surface-contact therewith, so that the attaching/detaching part 1 is fixed in the main body 2.
