PURPOSE: To prevent breakage or the like in the attachment part of a detecting rod, and thus enhance the reliability of the facility and improve the rate of operation of a mixer by providing a detecting rod being moved up and down together with a ram, and arranging detecting means adapted to detect the elevational position of the ram at the side part of an elevational position of the detecting rod.
CONSTITUTION: On a pair of left and right rotors 2a, 2b accommodated within a mixing chamber 1, an elevating ram 5 is disposed that serves to press materials 2a, 2b onto the rotors 2a, 2b by a predetermined pressure via the rod 4 of an elevating device 3 of an air cylinder or the like. On the upper surface of a piston 9 of the elevating device 3, a detecting rod 10 is vertically provided passing through a casing 3a, which elevates vertically together with the piston 9 and ram 5. On the side part of the detecting rod 10, detecting means 11a, 11b are installed at distances on the up and down direction, and by detecting the tip position of the rod 10, the elevating position of the ram 5 is detected. The attachment of the detecting rod 10 never interferes with the casing 3a or the like, and since loads never effect thereto particularly, the breakage or the like in the attachment part can be prevented effectually.
