PURPOSE: Not only to make a detecting device of a molten metal surface, etc. light in weight, but also to make it ascend and descend, by coupling a detecting end and its supporting body by a flexible heat resistance cloth cylindrical body, and driving the detecting end so that it is ascended and descended by a band plate which is high in its linear stability and soft.
CONSTITUTION: A supporting cylinder 26 to which detecting coils 271W273 have been wound round is stored in a heat resistance non-magnetic ceramic cylindrical body 24, and to the cylindrical body 24, a supporting plate 25 is fastened. To the supporting plate, band plates 201.202 which are not only extremely high in its linear stability but also capable of bending easily, and are used, for instance, for a steel tape measure, and glass wool heat resistance cloth 29 are fixed by a heat resistance ring 30. The band plate can be taken in and out through a guide passage having a shape of "<" in a band plate guide 23. The lower part of the heat resistance cloth 29 is fastened to the lower end of an end member 22 by a heat resistance ring 28, and the band plate, a coil output transmission cable passing pipe 19, etc. ar surrounded by the cloth concerned and the end member. When the band plate is taken in and out, the detecting part is ascended and descended.
