Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting the end of a ribbon, with which the running-out of an ink ribbon can be surely detected.
SOLUTION: A reflecting type photosensor 14 for detecting an end detecting optical pattern 5 formed at the terminal part of the ink ribbon 1 is equipped. However, when a reflected pattern from the photosensor 14 coincides with a standard pattern memorized in advance, the arrival of the end of the ribbon is not immediately judged and the arrival of the end of the ribbon is judged under an assumption that the photosensor 14 detects the optical pattern 5 only under the condition that the residual amount of the ribbon is a predetermined value such as 10% or less.
