Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly detect the deterioration of the receiving environment of a reflection signal from a preceding vehicle in auto-cruising controlling so as to keep the vehicle interval distance constant by detecting a vehicle interval distance with a preceding vehicle by a distance sensor composed of a laser radar.
SOLUTION: Standard deviation (or dispersion) and average value of the receiving light quantity are calculated on the basis of data accumulating a receiving light quantity detected by a distance sensor 81 over a prescribed time, when the distance sensor 87 does not receive a reflection signal, and it is judged that the receiving environment of the reflection signal from the preceding vehicle is deteriorated, if the standard deviation is equal to or larger than a reference value, or if the average value is equal to or smaller than the reference value. Auto-cruising controlling is stopped and deterioration of the receiving environment is informed to a driver by an information means 7.
