To provide a work position detection apparatus in simple configuration in which a work can be moved as freely as possible and working in subsequent steps are not disturbed.
A detection apparatus comprises a projection section (10) which projects detection light (40), a light receiving section (20) which receives the detection light, and support means (30) which holds the projection section and the light receiving section in a predetermined positional relation. The light receiving device includes a plurality of light receiving elements disposed in a one-dimensional or two-dimensional manner, and the support means holds positions of the projection section and the light receiving section in such a manner that the detection light (40) becomes oblique to a detection reference plane provided between the projection section and the light receiving section.
