PURPOSE: To increase the measuring accuracy and reproducibility, by measurement after removing the oily substance floating in waste water, in the method detecting the alcohol accompanied with the air blown in waste water with the metallic semiconductor gas detection element.
CONSTITUTION: The vessel 2 providing the filter medium (e.g., filter paper) 3 is installed in front of the vessel 4 containing waste water 5. The waste water introduced from the supply tube 1 is filtered with the filter medium 3 installed in the vessel 2, and after removing the oily substance floating, it is introduced in the vessel 4, and air is blown as fine air bubbles in it via the blow tube 6 and fine hole body 7. The said blown air reaches the measuring box 10 accompanying the alcohol dissolved in the waste water and discharged outside the system via the suction pump 14, and alcohol containing amount is measured at the box 10 on its way with the metallic semiconductor gas detection element.
