PURPOSE: To detect easily and accurately skin surface porphyrin inclusive of a measurement place as a color image and conduct observation by preventing the temperature ascent of a CCD by cooling the CCD by means of a cooling mechanism, using feeble ultraviolet rays that contain visible light and do not have a bad effect on a skin.
CONSTITUTION: In the case of a Peltier cooling type CCD color camera 4, cooling is carried out by means of a Peltier element to prevent the temperature ascent of a CCD module. Also, the temperature ascent of the Peltier element is cooled by means of a circulation liquid from a cooling drive unit 5. Thus, when spectrum is received, a color image signal that is normal at all times can be outputted. As a result, skin surface porphyrin can be detected and observed quickly with ease and accuracy as a color stationary image through a TV monitor 7 even at a feeble ultraviolet ray quantity without causing a bad effect on a skin. Also, visible light is contained in irradiation light from a light source 1, too, so the contour of the place of a human body also can be indicated as an image, and a porphyrin measurement place can come to be grasped clearly.
