PURPOSE: To provide a method of detecting a reproducible spring characteristic curve of a stand so that a frame spring of a stand is correctly determined when a rolling is carried out for a certain dimension under a completely different load and the roll stand is correctly adjusted prior to rolling, in the case where the cap stand can be preliminarily loaded.
CONSTITUTION: In a method of detecting a spring characteristic curve of a roughing and finishing roll stand, and a method of adjusting the roll gap of the rolls prior to rolling, particularly in a method for rolling lightweight sections with narrow tolerances, where the roll stand is equipped with a removable stand cap 6, the upper roll stand 12 is moved by an electromechanical adjustment unit 16, and a rolling force to be measured between the roll surfaces is applied by a hydraulic clamp 10. The electromechanical adjustment unit 16 is adjustable by predeterminable adjustment distances in the unloaded state while maintaining roll contact.
