Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent builder in the form of cogranules by spraying an aq. soln. of an alkali metal silicate to particles based on an alkali metal carbonate to form cogranules and densifying and drying the cogranules.
SOLUTION: An aq. soln. which has a solid content of 30-55 wt.% and is based on an alkali metal silicate contg. 30% or higher silicon atoms in the forms of Q2 and Q3 and having a molar ratio of SiO2/M2O of 1.6-3.5 or is based on a mixture of the silicate and an alkali metal carbonate is sprayed on a rolling bed of particles which are based on an alkali metal carbonate and have an average particle size of 10-150 μm, converting the particles into plastic cogranules. The cogranules are introduced into a rotating drum, allowed to dwell there to be densified, and then dried on a fluidized bed at 40-90°C to such a water content that the wt. ratio of the silicate to water associated therewith is (100:120)-(100:40).
