To obtain a detergent compsn. which is excellent in power of cleaning oily dirt and in finish after cleaning by incorporating specified amts. of a cationic surfactant, a nonionic surfactant, a volatile alkali agent, and a volatile water-soluble solvent together with water into the same and imparting a specified pH to the same.
This compsn. contains 0.001-5 wt.% cationic surfactant of formula I or II, 0.001-5 wt.% nonionic surfactant, 0.001-10 wt.% volatile alkali agent (e.g. ammonia), 0.001-50 wt.% volatile water-soluble solvent (e.g. ethanol), and water and has a pH of 8-13. In the formulas, R1 is 6-20C alkyl or alkenyl; R2 is 1-20C alkyl or alkenyl; R3 is 1-3C alkyl; R4 is R2, 2-hydroxyethyl, or 2- hydroxypropyl; X- is an anionic group derived pref. from an alkyl sulfate or an arylsulfonic acid; R5 is 13-20C alkyl or alkenyl; R6 is R4; and R7 is R3.
