To obtain a detergent composition which is suitably used as a detergent for the skin, has excellent foaming properties, stability with time, restoration properties from low-temperature preservation, creaminess of foam and improved touch after washing, provides the skin after washing with firmness and moisture and has excellent deodorizing effect.

The detergent composition comprises (A) 5-80 wt.% of 8-20C fatty acid soap and (B) 0.005-2 wt.% calculated as solid content of an extract of seeds and/or an extract of seed husks of a plant belonging to the genus Carya of the family Juglandaceae.
