To provide a detergent compsn. which contains no thickener, has a surfactant content low enough not to cause irritation against the skin or mucosa, can impart suitable consistency to a detergent, possesses excellent foamability, and can be, in use, easily withdrawn from a container, and comfortably used.

This detergent compsn. comprises the following components (A), (B), and (C). (A): an alkali metal salt of secondary amide type N-acylamino acid represented by the following formula R1-CONH(CH2)nCOOH (wherein R1CO represents a 10-16 C straight-chain acyl group and (n) is a number of 1 or 2). (B): an alkali metal salt of a higher fatty acid. (C): an amphoteric surfactant. The detergent compsn. contains these components in a (A+B)/C wt. ratio of (2.5:1) to (1:2).
