To provide a detergent deodorizing compounding agent which uniformly dissolves in an aqueous solvent even when a zinc compound hardly soluble in water is used as a deodorizing component, has an action to remove the odor component present in a detergent as an additive, and is low-cost and safe to the human body, and a detergent composition.

The detergent deodorizing compounding agent comprises a mixture of zinc carbonate and/or zinc oxide and at least one amino acid selected from the group consisting of glycine, alanine, phenylalanine, a glutamate, and sarcosine. The weight ratio in the combined use of the zinc carbonate and/or zinc oxide to the amino acid is in the range of 1:2 to 1:50. The deodorizing compounding agent is preferably in the form of an aqueous solution. The detergent composition is obtained by incorporating the above deodorizing compounding agent into a detergent.
