To provide a detergent capable of effectively cleaning an inner side of a cylinder for the purpose of replacing a preceding resin remaining in the cylinder of a plastic molding machine with a resin to be molded next.
A detergent is obtained by melting only the surface of a particulate polyethylene with a high temperature kneader and then reacting the molten layer with an organic peroxide to form a film-like crosslinked item. Since the detergent is produced in this manner, a lot of uncrosslinked polyethylene exists in the detergent to enable the detergent to flow even at a low temperature and the existing film-like crosslinked item prevents the detergent from adhering to a cylinder wall and the like even at a high temperature to make it incompatible with other molding materials and thereby to effectively purge the remaining resin within the cylinder.
