To provide a detoxifying agent and detoxifying method of cyanide, which can detoxify efficiently and quickly free cyanide which is deadly poison, and a stable metal cyano complex adsorbed to soil.
Cyanide can be detoxified by dissolving an exemplary cyanide-detoxifying agent consisting of: a cleaning agent constituted by, for example, peptone, gluconic acid, glucose, and sodium phosphate; ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid; and sulfide into water, followed by mixing it with the cyanide. By utilizing cyanide decomposition microorganism which can exist in contaminated soil, can be grown in the manner similar to general microorganisms, and can be grown in an inorganic and organic nutrient culture medium containing an inorganic salt, a nitrogen source, and other nutrient sources, cyanide can be detoxified industrially in an efficient manner in an extensive region even when the land to be detoxified is broad.
