To provide a developer carrier that prevents excessive charging of a toner which occurs in a developing device while retaining an electric charge amount of the toner sufficiently high and is difficult to cause the toner to be fusion-bonded onto the developer carrier, to provide a developer carrier that inhibits uneven charging of the toner on the surface of the developer carrier which occurs in the case where a toner of a small particle size is used and can give a proper amount of electric charge to the toner and to provide a developing device having the developer carrier.
The developer carrier is provided with a resin layer comprising a polymer having a unit represented by formula (1) formed on a substrate surface of the developing carrier (wherein R denotes a specific group including -SO2-R' group) in a developing device.
