PURPOSE: To readily and surely recover developer by providing a developer recovery plate in a developer tank, disposing the developer recovery plate between a developer scraper plate and the port part of a toner vessel at the recovering of the developer and driving a developing roller, etc.

CONSTITUTION: A scooping-up roller 4, etc. are disposed in a developer tank 2, and a toner vessel 12 is disposed on the side of said tank 2 apart furthest from a photosensitive drum 1. Said toner vessel 12 may be removed from or mounted to the developing tank 2 by pulling or pushing forward. A developer recovery plate 20 is disposed horizontally over the toner vessel 12 and second developing roller 6 and is movable downward by an operating lever 26. At the developer recovering, the toner vessel 12 and developer recovery plate 20 are moved to the position of the alternate-long-and-short dash-line position to operate the scooping-up roller 4, etc. Thereby, the developer 3 is scooped up to the second developing roller 6 and is dropped into the toner vessel 12 by going on the developer scraper plate 9 and sliding on the developer recovery plate 20, thus it may be readily and surely recovered.
