A developing apparatus includes a rotatable toner collection member 13 which is arranged downstream of a developing region, where a developer carrier 5 faces an image carrier 1, in a surface moving direction of the image carrier 1, to collect toner suspended in a developing apparatus 4. At least one of a plurality of magnetic poles of the developer carrier 5 is arranged in a position facing the toner collection member 13 so as to form a magnetic field to brush a developer. The toner collection member 13 is arranged in contact with the developer brushed with the magnetic field by at least one of the magnetic poles, so as not to come into contact with any of a surface of the developer carrier 5 or a surface of the image carrier 1.
